On the whole this is one of the best articles about the horn I have seen. However there is one error:

- The opening of Mahler's 5th symphony is a trumpet fanfare (although there is a fantastic horn obligato in one of the later movements).

Apart from this I'd just like to say that as a horn player its wonderful to see such and accurate account of such a beautiful instrument!

Perhaps you're thinking of the start of Mahler 3, which has 8 horns playing the opening theme. The movement is subtitled 'Summer Marches In'
