A Conversation for On Being an Artist's Model

Sea Change

It has been shown quite recently that a ratio or .7 between a woman's waist and her hips is always considered beautiful to men, across all this planet's cultures. She can be quite plump, merely Rubenesque, healthy American girl, Bo Derek, or Twiggy. As long as this ratio applies, she scores much closer to "10" out of 1 to 10 scale of desirability than a woman who deviates past .63 and .85.

Measurements of this ratio in old portraits and statuary of (ostensibly beautiful) women, correlate nicely with this finding.
