So Haskell Curry and Alonzo Church develop lambda and Haskell gets both Haskell and Currying named after him and Alonzo gets nothing? I call that unfair! Although I suppose if someone approached me and asked if I knew Church, my first thought would be to run for the hills!

Alonzo Church actually gets the system of Church Numerals named after him. These totally useless and clumsy-looking functions are a way of specifying the natural numbers (integers from 0 onwards) as pure lambda functions.
I always thought Alonzo got a bit hard done by there.
I promise that if I'm ever involved in a project to develop another language based on this calculus, I'll force the developers to name it Alonzo.
