Comic Strip hero? There were a few comic books that included and/or featured Captain Future adventures, but they are very rare and secondary to the magazine and cartoon show. CF was inspired by comic strips, but he doesn't really qualify as a comic strip hero.

Captain Future and the rest of the characters that were under whatever publisher that was are being republished and written by Alan Moore and DC's America's Best Comics. There's an article on it over at newsarama.com.

It's interesting to note that Captain Future, Doc Strange, The Black Terror and all the other characters originally owned by that publishing house went unused for so long, the copyrights became public domain, which means that anyone can publish interpretations of the original stories without consequence of a license.

The original owner was Thrilling Publications, a division of Better Publications. Who inherited their copyrights after they shut down is anyone's guess.
I'll have to look over the new Captain Future comics. Have they revised him out of all recognition?

He hasn't been revised at all. What ABC did is re-introduce the characters as inhabitants of an alternate Earth that resides in the same galaxy as the ABC Earth, but it's just a little different. The ABC Earth apparently was "in tune" with the Nedor Earth in the form of comic books that detailed every account of the Nedor heroes' lives. This all took place in an issue of Tom Strong, published a few years ago by America's Best Comics (not the Nedor publication, but the DC Comics publishing identity).

The characters that DC and Alan Moore (Tom Strong co-creator and writer) were most interested in at the time were Doc Strange (whom they revealed was an alternate version of Tom Strong) and The Black Terror. Captain Future didn't get any lines, I don't think.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad they didn't mess the Captain up.
