A Conversation for Richard III - Malignant or Maligned Monarch?

Thank you

Thanks for writing this, I've never had the time. Richard had what can only be termed bad PR, but I do believe that even if he didn't do it himself he was responsible for the deaths of the princes. Still, it was common in those times to do away with the opposition, so who could blame him. A time of regency is never a really good time for a country.

And on a more (more? really, more like) flippant note, just think: if Richard hadn't lost that day we'd never remember the colours of the rainbow. Sorry, couldn't resist it.

No, no. I insist. Thank you for taking the trouble to read it. And commenting. I hope you liked it...

I reckon someone would have thought of another mnemonic. Maybe we should start one ourselves. Alternative mnemonics... Sounds good to me... smiley - smiley

A fine article, and well worth the read.
Being as I'm a Scot, I never knew that much about Richard (apart from Blackadder smiley - smiley) It never even dawned on me that he was the one in the mnemonic

Being a Yorkshire girl, I've always denied that Richard lost the battle of Bosworth field. But then, in my Alternate Universe Sheffield Wednesday win the league, the cup (any cup) and are all incredibly good looking and Yorkshire Cricket Club win everything, even Wimbledon.

Seen the County Championship table recently?

Yorkshire are right back where they should be, of course - but... Sheffield Wednesday? Purleese.

There's only one team in Sheffield, and they ain't called Wednesday.

It's a bit hard for me to keep up with the cricket, but I did notice what's been going on there, even without Darren Gough and the others! I'm really enjoying singing "We are top of the league"! But can anyone tell me why the emblem of Yorkshire County Cricket Club appears to be an oversized daisy?

As to there only being one footie team in Sheffield.... The Blades? I think not. smiley - tongueout

The White Daisy of York? Made no easy name for the civil war - War of the Flowers?

I think we should. Its absence is nothing short of criminal.

Consider my hoof-mark at the top of the list.

I think we'd be banging our heads up against a brick wall anyway, since this place is packed with southerners and people from the (gasp!) wrong side of the Penines!

You don't mean... Surely... No!

It's just too awful to contemplate...

Lancastrians? Here?

Stop. Please don't say the L-word. I'll get an attack of the vapours!
Off to slurp some Henderson's relish before the red roses get me...

Why do you think the Northern meet-up is in Manchester? They're dictating policy, I tell you.

Well, I thought I might pop along, briefly, you know.

Gasp!
But, in the interests of intelligence gathering, and standing around looking superior (as only we Yorkshire people know how to do) I suppose it's ok. If you feel you have to.
*she says jealously, because she's never yet made a gathering....*

Why go... over there... to gather intelligence? It would be like knitting fog.

The looking superior bit, though. Like the sound of that. Or the look. The idea, definitely.
