A really good entry .
I know I am somewhat late to the party (!) but I found your analysis of the novels and mentions of the adaptations very interesting. The only other adaptation I know of is Random Quest which was made as Quest for Love back in 1971. It starred Tom Bell, Joan Collins, Laurence Naismith and Denholm Elliott and happens to have been my entry into the world of John Wyndham. It's extremely good and well worth checking out.
