2 bad things about teh mini

I really like teh Mini, but the car isn't without its fault. Basically its a death box on wheels. The thing crumples in a crash and teh engine will end up in your lap in a head on. I still love em but it was something pointed out by soemone early on. teh response from someone high up was "If anyone's stupid enough to crash our car they deserve anything tehy get" you'd never get away with that now.

And for now my second fault. The new mini, seen it. Remember how teh new beetle was quite good. The new mini is ugly as sin and looks too, well normal. Basically, it sucks.

I agree that they're a death box on wheels. But still I love "my" mini.
The only thing wrong with "my" mini is that when I produced offspring number 2 I decided that driving a convertible mini was no longer an option, and swapped it (after careful vetting of the new owner) for a Golf. I know who got the better deal, but at least he lets me drive it now and again, and he looks after it really really well.... sniff sniff. I'm really sad now thinking about how I no longer own one. smiley - blue

I remmeber vetting the person who bought our familys mini. The thing was on teh towable side of scrap metal but we still made sure teh person buying it wasn't just looking for spare parts.

The wife of the guy who now has my (beautifully shiny, polished, loved etc etc) mini told me she "hates" me. He won't let her or the kids within spitting distance, and spends all day polishing it! I'm glad it got a new home, but I think he's spoiling it rotten.

I actually saw somewhere someone whod made an artciulated lorry mini. basically adapting a mini to tow a large articulated flatbed trailer. It was really cool.

Speaking of "death traps", does anyone remember the Mini Moke? There are still a few floating around Australia, and if the saloon Mini was a bit of a joke in a crash...well.
All the Coopers I owned (4) were fitted with a rubber glove over the distributor, with the four fingers encasing the plug leads, and the thumb the high tension cable to the coil. Made driving in the rain less of an "experience".

I'd forgotten the Moke! I drove one for about 3 months in the winter once - the only car I could borrow at the time. The exhaust was held on by a bit of wire coathanger, and the windows were held together by masking tape. Great!

Can't comment on that, I appear to be the only one in the whole world who has never actually seen the Prisoner!
