A Conversation for The Film that Moved You Most and Why
Secrets and Lies

I don't know whether you're still open for additions to the list, but Secrets and Lies is a very moving film.
it deals with difficult issues of family relationships, particularly between parents and children (grown up, growing up, never conceived or conceived but never 'known') and terrific performances from many of the cast.
The female lead, Cynthia (an emotionally charged performance from Brenda Blethyn) is a late-middle-aged factory-worker who had a bit of a wild childhood (we understand) and is contacted by her own grown-up daughter whom she has never met because she was given up for adoption immediately after birth.
This 'reunion' is the central relationship but we also gain an insight into various others, including the hauntingly ambivalent bond between the lead and her brother, played by Timothy Spall.
Er, should i go on, or am i talking into cybervoid here?
