Simon Winchester wrote the Book "The Surgeon of Crowthorne" about Dr James Murray and Dr WC Minor, and the OED. I would fully recommend it to anybody, except perhaps my mum 
. This is probably the same book as mentioned by Decaf, but the non USA version.
