Project Description
My goal is to compile entries for as many of the diseases below as possible (and possibly others as well, depending on suggestions). I'd like each entry to have both clinical and epidemiological info. Plus, I'll be writing a general entry defining zoonotic diseases, and some defining the different mechanisms by which zoonotic diseases are transmitted.
I'm going to use a rather narrow definition of Zoonotic Diseases so that the project doesn't get too overwhelmingly large, and focus only on diseases that can be transmitted to humans directly from live animals under natural circumstances. I'm also not including the huge host of diseases that can be caught by drinking water contaminated with animal fecal material. If this goes well, I may do foodborne diseases next, and then arthropod-borne diseases. Many infections that proliferate in the animal reservoir are actually transmitted to humans via an animal-insect-human cycle.
