h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Last May in Interlaken, Switzerland, we came across many wooden cows in gardens, on balconies, poised above the windows of shops... They were kind of 2.5 dimensional, in that each one was made from a standard side view with two "cross-sections" with legs, slotted together at right-angles to make a fee standing animal. Each one was then painted more or less realsitically, with many flowers and more or less musical notes portrayed as emerging from one end or the other.
