but it occasionally tells you things you need to know.
Not often, mind you, but occasionally. It is a good excuse to parade lots of naked (or near-naked) beautiful bodies around - ostensibly to increase the appeal of your product, but usually because the advertising itself is so boring that you need the distraction...

yes... we have a spot here for men's jeans, where lots of beautiful half-naked women were filmed (baywatch-style, all posing), and not a jeans in sight... after about a minute of this, there's the brand name, and it say: would you prefer our ads with men?, then showing some blokes skulking bored... no information, but how much fun

And then there's the Levi's ad in which two invisible people disrobe and get it on. I didn't like explaining what the ad was about to my five-year old.
But since I'm bitching about it, I guess the ad was effective!
