A Conversation for Basil Brush AKA Ivan Owen

My invisble fox

Actually, it was last Sunday that I saw him, so he wasn't so invisible after all.

My foxy tale began some months ago when winter was simply being winter, so the wild animals were out at night searching for food. So having seen a fox venture forth into the bushes that are part of the gardens of some private apartments nearby, I felt sorry for him.

And so I began to leave the contents of one tin of dog food, usually the chicken flavour at the place I saw him visit. Well, the food offering disappeared and so I continued this each night about 9pm. And then I decided two tins would make a more substantial meal, and a so a month passed and every scrap of two tins was being licked up.

Well, I decided to be even more generous to a fox I never saw, and began leaving the contents of three cans.

And last Sunday at just passed 9pm, I went to the usual place and the fox was there before the food. He quickly rushed to the other side of the bushes and no doubt was licking his lips as he could smell first the chicken, then the rabbit, and lastly the beef knifed onto the ground. And so with my empty tins I departed, leaving this not so invisible fox to another nice supper!
