the given formula is incorrect. It should be 4*pi*a*b. One takes a fairly complicated double-integral to arrive at this result. All other websites I checked agreed with this result including the University of Minnesota geometry department, among others. Perhaps it was just a typo, I didn't go through the math on this page very carefully.

The formula in the article is correct. Please notice that 'b' denotes the complete radius of the torus, not just the distance of the centre of the torus to the *centre* of its profile.
By the way, it's very simple to find this formula, you just need Guldin's second rule.
