Putting spring in your step

quizzical

Walk, don't drive. Walk around the block if the weather is nice. Walk around your local mall if it isn't. Walk the dog. Play tag with your kids. Play tag with the dog smiley - smiley or help him chase squirrels...

Here in the States, yoga and pilates are all the rage. Both develop strength, flexibility and coordination, and they can be done by just about anyone regardless of current fitness level. They are also gentle to the body - your joints will thank you for it. And you come out of the class smiling. A smile does more nice things for your face than any cosmetic in the world.

Another thing that keeps your body young: ice skating. No, I don't know why. Maybe it's because you challenge your body in new ways or something. All of the adults I skate with look and act twenty years younger than they are. And there is nothing like mastering a full-revolution jump to put spring in anybody's step...

Buzz Lightyear: Getting Ever Warmer

Talking of smiley - biggrin you know it takes more muscles to frown! [So if you want to exercise your face - get smiley - crossing! smiley - ok ]

OBVIOUS POINT WARNING smiley - winkeye: being more active in your day circulates the blood more effectively around your body, improves respiration & generally makes you feel better intrinsically. So you could say a moment's punishment is worth a lifetime's gain (well, at least until the next time you succomb to the temptation of that cream cake! smiley - winkeye); & personal wellbeing isn't just about looking good on the outside (although it's a start!).
