I grew up around the same area as Billy Bragg, and also Dudley Moore, who once said something along the lines of "Ah yes, the number 87 bus. When you saw one , you jumped on it whether you needed it or not because you never knew when you were going to see another one". He was right 
I'm very happy to see an entry about BB, and such a well written one too. I saw Billy play three times during the 'Save The GLC' tour, once on his home turf at The Dagenham Roundhouse. Magical. I don't think I ever saw him do 'A 13' though 
By the way, If anyone can remember the name of that incredible juggler who was also on the bill for most dates of that tour, I'd be very happy to know it.
I was a removal man for a time during the late 80's/early 90's, and one evening I had to go check out someone's stuff for a quote, a bloke who was living in a modest flat in North London. Whilst there I noticed a (maybe it was gold, maybe it was silver, I don't recall) disc hanging on the wall. "Are you in the music biz?" I asked. "No, I'm a....." he replied, but I produced Billy Bragg's first album. It was Oliver Hitch
