An excellent entry.
Like a lot of people I know I was hooked on this show from the first watch. First time around it was the well-developed characters and gripping story lines. However it was not until I moved to London in 98 to work for a company based in the area of London featured in the show (Chancery Lane, Holborn) that I discovered just how true to life it was. So much so that the second time around was even more of a treat as you inevitable draw parallels between your own life and the characters being so well played by the excellent cast.
The papers may well have poured scorn on the topics featured in the show, but good television should inform not conceal and I have yet to find a show that so accurately portrays life and love in London, not least of which the bigotry that homosexuals have to face on a daily basis from supposedly intelligent people.
If you have the opportunity to see or buy the videos I cannot recommend more highly that you do.
