Not only do sitcoms needs great leads; they are defined by the quality of their ensemble. In 'Ever Decreasing Circles" Esmond & Larbey tapped into an archetype that has stuck with me ever since - Howard and Hilda, the dress-sense twins. Whenever I see a couple dressed in a similar fashion, those two names trip off my tongue.
How many writers of any genre can do that?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
