The aim of this one is to see how many items over the ten item limit you can squeeze past the operator on the ten items or less checkout.
As a beginner, add one or two very small items to your quota of ten, for example a jar of fishpaste or a bag of crisps. Or maybe use items that although plural could be viewed as a singular - maybe two lemons each put in an individual plastic bag.
As your confidence grows with successive trips to the supermarket add more and more, upping the number of items to truly antisocial levels. A real master should be able to take whole trolleyloads through unchallenged. And then pay by credit card.

Eliot,
sorry to have repeated your idea, honestly I didn't see it. Great (bored) minds think alike!

No problem! Obviously a hugely popular pastime.
What I would like to do, but have not had the nerve to, is to buy some loose fruit or veg and wrap each one up separately so the checkout operator has to individually weigh each one. Imagine buying, say, 100 loose carrots and putting each one in its own little plastic bag. Great fun.

some guy got in trouble for doing that a couple of years ago. it was in the news. he would insist on paying for each little thing seperately, apparantly it saved him money or something!
