Why are people ignoring this Noble Art Form?

I checked this entry when I saw it was in the "most neglected" top 5 list, and I didn't know what a clerihew was. Now I know and I'm not disappointed. What a marvellous style of poetry! What I like most of all is the freedom to totally bugger up the rythm by ignoring all constraints of metre.

By the way when I was hoping that a clerihew would turn out to be a kind of mollusc. Would be a good name for a mollusc, don't you think?

Instead it has a sail
