Besides being an essential spice for Chillies and many curries, I like this pungent, earthy spice in barley flour bread.

Its an essential spice, the only one in fact asides pepper in a dish I do with rice chicken and lemon juice; lemon juice and the cumin in the dish makes a loerly flavour other things in the dish too, chicken stock, onion, mushroom, celery, garlic etc, kind of cheating risotto for when you don't want to stand over the pan stiring for ages

I went to a cheese and wine party yesterday, where each guest was to bring a type of cheese they had never tried.

One of the cheeses was a Gouda with cummin, from a local artisan cheese company. It was terrific; the suggestion from the person who brought it was, "This would make the BEST macaroni and cheese!"
