Bump In The Night

There are many myths surrounding the origin of the Bump In The Night. One set of stories have been almost completely fabricated as a method by which parents attempt to scare their young children away from the evil drink before they reach physical maturity. When the children are alone in their beds in the dark of the night, and they hear a bumping sound, they will think that it is the terrible, horrible, monstrous evil drink that has come to gobble them up. In a similar way to the myths of Santa Claus the Tooth Fairy, or the Easter Bunny, the evil drink story soon loses its charm when the children discover that it is in fact their parents sneaking around after dark.
