Escalators

Surely the most common cause of closed stations....Escalators. Strange that at least 2 stations on the tube at any given time are closed due to these travelling stairways. Correct me if Im wrong but escalators are not the most complex pieces of machinary. They're modular for one thing allowing ease of component swapout. This gets me wondering.
---Has London a shortage of Trained Tube Escalator Technicians?
---What happens to the stations workforce if the tube station is closed, do they have a party or go back to bed?
---Are station employees sabotaging escalators? on a rota basis
---When the tube station is closed Trained Tube Escalator Technicians may not be able to get in to fix the problem because no trains stop their.
---Do Trained Tube Escalator Technicians get trained in jumping from moving tube trains?
---Is this why tube trains slow down even although the station is shut?
Escalators (and staff shortages)
Elliott Posted Nov 3, 2000
As somone pointed out on a TV programme last night, "what is a broken escalator, if not a flight of stairs?".
On the subject of staff shortages, has anyone noticed that recently the Circle Line has been suspended for hours, or whole days, because of "a lack of staff". Eh? What's all that about then?? Seeing as every Circle Line station is also served by another line, I assume they're suffering from a lack of traincrew/drivers.
cheers,
Elliott
