For a visual treat I recommend downloading Celestia from http://www.shatters.net/celestia/
A free, absolutely amazing three dimesional real-time model of the solar system. Enter the object you wish to visit, say. Io- moon of Jupiter, be taken to an orbit around it, move closer, farther away, position yourself around the moon to bring Jupiter into the background, or select the asteroid that narrowly missed earth last June. Set the date to June 14, speed up the time and watch how close it passes to the earth. Truly a gift to the world from the programmer, a Mr. Chris Laurel.
