The question is...
What percentage of Americans actually solely use _those_ reasons? And does this have anything to do with the re-election of GWB?

I think all too many Americans base their politics on what their family's politics are. There are families in the south that are completely Democrat and completely Republican. All my family on my father's side were Democrats, actually.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. I'm much more conservative than either of my parents and in the last election voted for Republican while thay both voted Democrat. However, niether my parents nor I affiliate ourselves with any party, we vote based on the issues and stances we feel are important. Me being inthe military made Bush into the better cnadidate for his stances on military spending while my parents feared for their Social Security (which I'm convinced I won't get no matter what).

You've never been to a family political debate (read reunion) of my clan. Nobody follows anyone and will fight at the drop of a slogan.
I have an aunt and an uncle that come to blows, and my in-laws are polar opposites party wise, though they still love each other.
