A very well written piece about a memorable part of the world. I did once try to drive to Eureka from SF, for no other reason than to be able to shout 'I've found it!' upon entering the town. Unfortunately, my family is a democracy, and the majority pulled us south again before we got there. I do remember the amazing redwoods, and a place called Ferndale(?) and some areas that seem to have been logged to death. Thanks for the reminders.

John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

Bravo! Both to Quixotic for a fine Entry and to Pheroneous for a fine idea: I hope you don't mind if I add shouting 'I've found it!' in Eureka to my list of things to do.smiley - smiley

Shouting "I Found It" in Eureka is fine al long as you don't mind getting funny looks from the locals. Also, always plan on there being rain in Eureka. I lived there for 10 years and I remember thinking that 70 degrees was unbelievably hot.
