Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
Firstly, let me welcome you to the office of the Ministry of Silly Walks. I am Aier, your Minister of Silly Walks. If you have a new Silly Walk, please feel free to describe it to us in detail and we will copyright it for you and add you to the inaugrial list of Silly Walkers. If you have a name for your silly walk, include that in your application and we will list the name of your Silly Walk beside your name. If you like, you can also add the above official stamp to your personal space.
POLICIES
Our policies include the research and development of Silly Walks and increasing public awareness of Silly Walks. We belive a Silly Walk is a valuable asset as it aids in defusing tensions between people and it is also a good way to get someone's attention. However, some not so silly walks have been used in the name of naughty things. Hence, it is imperative to educate the people in proper etiquite when they are dealing with Silly Walks.
We also aim to attatch the snazzy title SWoON - Order of Notable Silly Walkers - to the end of every researcher who has a Silly Walk. We belive that this is Important because you can never have too many bits of information after your name.
INTRODUCING SILLY WALKS
To get started, we recomend the introductory course by John Cleese. However, if you already have a Silly Walk, don't read what was in that sentence.
Walking in a silly manner (Silly Walking) began in pre-historic times when humans first began to walk on their hind legs. However, since every one walked in a silly manner, it was a rather unremarkable thing to do and nobody noticed. The first recorded Silly Walk was in the early 20th. This is probably due to the fact that the moving picture was developed at about that time, giving people the ability to record a Silly Walk.
Examples of early Silly Walks include:
- Walking with very large shoes in a stiff legged manner
- Traversing some distance and then turning around to quickly shuffle jump (a series of small jumps propelling one foreward some distance) to your starting position
- Walking on your ankles making very quick up and down movements with your body
Today, the Silly Walk is much more advanced. We have an intelligence report outlining a recent development in Japan where a man can bend his leg back over his head and back again with each step. However, a Silly Walk need not be so difficult. Although, we should stress that there ought to be some degree of difficulty. Simply walking two steps foreward and one step back is not nearly silly enough
