Side note to "Ironically the name Gagnon means 'winner' in English."
Gagnon is a common family name in Quebec, more likely at the origins of this town's name. Besides, if the word was to be translated to English, it would translate as "earning" [from French "gagnons", as in "Nous gagnons notre vie" (We are earning a living)] - no doubt what local miners had to do with hard work and long hours to earn their bread.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
