The People's Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne has been using the Phoenix as it logo since the 1920s. When we moved from our Rye Hill theatre to our present one in Heaton the Rye Hill place burnt down the week after we left. Some of the chared timbers were recovered from the rubble and made into a sculpture of a Phoenix which still adorns the walls of the theatre.
