Should an interviewer ask 'do you consider yourself to have a weakness' how appropriate is it to reply, 'I don't' think I have a weakness??

The key is to turn this on head so when discussing yor "weakness" you also propose a solution. An example might be:
"As soon as I become aware of any weakness on my part I do my utmost to learn the necessary skills to overcome it. For example, my typing skills were mediocre at the outset of my career so I spent my own money on going to a necessary course to improve my typing, and as a result am now an excellent typist"
Recruiters will be impressed with your proactive nature.
