Birding and Cricket

Nice article, including the illustration.
My wife is a serious birdwatcher, and considers Trinidad one of the prime spots, having been there a couple of times just for birding. I don't know if she made it to Tobago, but I suspect the birding is in the same league.
Coincidentally, in just the past week, I was at a student cricket tournament near Houston, still trying to understand the game. I was talking to one of the organizers, a member of the Indian Students Association, and mentioned that my group had watched a video on cricket fundamentals. It included a big cricket star from years ago, but I couldn't remember his name, so I asked, "Who is the greatest cricket player you remember?" He said without pause, "Donald Bradman." "No, not a British player ..." "Australian.", he said. "Same thing" I said, laughing. He smiled. "No, it was ... Sobers! Sir Gary Sobers." "Ah, yes, West Indies, best allrounder ever." Then he politiely explained why Sobers was an allrounder and Bradman was not.
Ah, well, still learning ... ... I probably sounded like the Brit asking about that famous Red Sox pitcher Mickey Mantle.
Key: Complain about this post
