A Conversation for Body Language

Contradictory behaviour

I'd just thought I'd contribute to this by sharing something I do (but am trying to overcome) when I have a physical ineterest in the personal I'm talking to.

In the early stages of a relationship, before I am certain that the other part feels the same as me, I always place myself behind something, if have to hold a conversation with the person in question. I usually stand behind a chair and use the back of it to lean on slightly, instead of seating on it as I would normally do if I wasn't intersted in the person. Totally the contrary of what I'd realy like to do, but I don't understand why I do it? Does anyone?

Simple. You don't want to be too open about the way you feel about the other person in case they don't feel the same way. Leaning towards them is probably trying to show your feelings in a way that could be conceived as something else if they turn out not to feel the same way. Your subconscious mind is more intelligent than your conscious mind
