What's wrong with that then?

I don't see anything wrong with a cheese omelette, tuna and sweetcorn sandwich with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, chilli sauce, mayonnaise, ketchup, salt and pepper.

Yes I do, it has mayonnaise in it. Swapping the mayo for something nice like salad cream and thiis would be a perfect sandwich.

I was in Evelyn Gardens last year, and often stopped in here for a sandwich every few days... I may have to go out my way to grab one every known and then this year...

Nothing wrong with mayo, it just doesn't agree with me and makes me feel ill.

Mayo isn't everyones cup of tea. In an ideal world they'd give you the choice to have mayo or not, but all these pre-pack rubbish come with the evil whitestuff on them like it or not.

That's another thing. What is the point of salad garnish? You get some lettuce and it is just left behind, so why are you given it?

I have no idea.. I wish they wouldnt, as I am definitely not a vegetable/fruit person... It would be much better left on the shelf... Even if you ask for no salad they look at you as if you are talking another language and give it to you anyway... I mean why????

One of my favourite sandwich shops is Martins in Newton Heath, Manchester. They give you the sandwich you want with the things you want. If you don't want the salad or you don't get it and you pay less for it (unlike certain other places that will charge the same or in some extreme cases more).

now that sounds good... I was in the states, and there is a chain called Subway... I think they've crossed across, but I havent seen any... They make it up before you, and you tell them what to put in.. but a little sandwich shop (Martins sounds like a small one...) seems so much nicer and cosier...

It sounds small but Martins has about 30 shops dotted around the Manchester area, but the service is like they are all little sandwich shops.

I'll need to find one like that in the Isle of Dogs... it has to exist somewhere...

I think part of the secret is good bread - baked fresh, and properly. And of course fresh ingredients. In my part of Canada we have a few of these places of varying quality. One I really liked was Dagwood's in Montreal - the bread was great and everything crisp and fresh with real food in it!

Subway does actually bake their own bread on site - but... Well it is a big food chain. Some are goodish some are not the epitome of good.

Be thankful you still have the small businesses that make the real thing and are not run by robots.

You can always be stuck with a Mc something or other instead.
