are NBG unless you have oodles of money. I once taught in Switzerland for a couple of years. It wasn't very well paid but I had a couple of hundred pounds in savings which I left in a Swiss bank account. In less time than it takes to type, it had been wiped out by negative (!) interest. They don't want small accounts

It isn't just the swiss who penalise small savers. Most british banks do so as well. Paltry interest rates which mean that you end up paying them for the privilege (after tax and inflation are taken into account). I don't think they could get away with directly having negative interest though.
