Moonlit Flowers

Moonlit flowers in the grass shining early white

Looking to the shadows that are giving me a fright

Walking through the bracken in-between the trees

Wondering what it is that’s rustling though the leaves.

I step out to the moorland I walk down through the glade

Then I see the shadows and become dismayed

Running through the meadow tripping over sticks

Wondering what to do to get out of this fix.

Then I stumble over highland and fall up the hill

To see some moonlit flowers and my mind they do fill.

I wonder how I found them, I wonder what they are

Too afraid to pick some in case they turn to tar.

I sit at home now, wet and quite dismayed

My mind just won't leave them and the glistening that they made

I wonder what they were, those flowers of the moon

And why didn't I find them when I went back this afternoon?
