As a UK driver in Arizona, I found the best way to go was to turn everything on (aircon, radio, cruise control) and fall asleep. You're there in no time. Unless your car's castoring is out of whack (keeps the steering centred) you'll never go off the road until you hit Sedona, when you have to start steering a bit. Even works within the city limits of Phoenix.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
