A Conversation for The United States of America

I was born and raised in Oklahoma, and my sister's family still lives there. Her husband's mother died a year or two back at the age of about 100 years. They sent me the newspaper obituary, which named her birthplace as "Duncan, IT". I know that Duncan is a town in Oklahoma, but I didn't understand the "IT". It finally dawned on me that when she was born, Oklahoma was still "Indian Territory", only becoming a state in 1907.
