A Conversation for Jake Thackray - the Entertainer

A conundrum?

Have loved Jake's songs for many, many years. Have even seen him a few times too - brilliant! However, one thing has puzzled me for years as well: would anybody care to suggest a way that one might lie:

"Toes towards the moonlight, noses in the flowerbeds . . ."

(The Statues)

I can't think of any!

Have you never seen a statue upside-down?

Firstly, it was Jake and his Uncle who were "toes toward the moonlight", after a Saturday night drinking session. To achieve this physical position :-
a) lie on floor face down.
b) bend legs at knee
c) point toes upwards !

if we're talking about two statues rather than one then the position of noses and toes is somewhat traditional, or missionary bordering on methodist. any other conclusion implies an inability in the observer to count, or too much time consumating one's relationship with oneself...
jake fans would do well to study the style and lyrics of noel coward, as well as getting to know some french persons (difficult as it is) who seem to be very acceptable if they've heard of Georges Brassens.

I can say all this because I'm australian and jake came here once or twice - though he didn't tell me...

love you all

another possible solution......

If you're flat on your back (due to alcohol consumption), your toes are pointing upwards.
Most flowerbeds have flowers that are quite tall on their stems (8" or over) so with your head stuck in the flowerbed, your nose, although pointing upward, like your toes, would still be among the flowers.
