While you may think its a long long way to the next village, thats just peanuts to space.
However the people of appley bridge dont have to travel to shevington to pray. the village has two churches. One CofE and another Methodist, with the CofE church (All Saints) having a primary school. Access to which is along finch lane, which due to the large number of chelsea tank driving mums has been reduced to a pothole ridden assault course, sporting puddles deep enough to swallow a small child whole.

Ashurst Beacon is NOT located in Appley Bridge rather Dalton, Wigan and its NOT a park.
There is a park in Appley Bridge at the top of Woodnook Lane opposite the Spar shop that includes a field and a small childrens play area.
