Graphology vs Forensic Handwriting Examination
spethy31 Started conversation Jun 15, 2007
I would like to point out that Graphology and Forensic Handwriting Examination are different disciplines. That is - a graphologist is NOT a forensic handwriting examiner, and vice versa.
Whilst graphologists claim to provide details about the personality of a writer, a forensic handwriting examiner compares two sets of handwriting to provide evidence of common authorship (this can be positive or negative). The two discplines are based upon different principles.
The majority of police forces in the UK use forensic handwriting examiners (specialised forensic scientists) to examine questioned handwriting and signatures, rather than graphologists.
