A Conversation for Guitar Heroes
Stevie Ray Vaughan

Without a doubt Stevie Ray Vaughan for me. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in about 1988(?). He was just recently clean and sober at that point, and he absolutely blew the crowd away! The man could make his guitar (his favorite was called Number 1) do what ever he wanted it to do--cry, scream, wail, or growl. When Stevie Ray would go to a solo, he would close his eyes and I believe he soul would just take off--leave his body completely! An absolute outstanding performer.
Stevie Ray Vaughan died in 1990, and the music world is less for the loss.

Have to drop several names in here as well, mostly Brian May of Queen and Pete Townshend of The Who. Any other suggestions?
