Okay, okay - hold it! The original "Bretzel" is NOT eaten with anything other than butter. No margarine, no mustard, and, certainly, no ketchup. You may serve any soft and mild cheese with it. A lot of bavarians tend to brush off the salt before eating their "Bretzeln". Once you tasted a warm Pretzel with fresh butter, you won´t ever again spoil your taste buds with something like ketchup...

It's good that I read it first, otherwise I'd have typed the same.
Though I don't like butter too much, with a Bretzel (who the zarking ion changed the spelling??? 
) it's a must!
