I enjoyed this article. When we had a friend travel in a very wet part of the world he packed his clothes inside a big black plastic bin liner. When the rain really poured down he was really pleased that the clothes he had in the bag were dry when he needed to change.

I know some people mark their bags with a coloured ribbon or something eye-catching so that they can identify it easily at baggage reclaim in airports.

Do you have any comments on colours for bags or is this irrelevant?

Hi Vestie,

I'm a big fan of the humble carrier bag, and it'll be mentioned in Part 3 of this Entry. I've never felt the need to colour-code my bag myself, but it's a good idea - like I said in the Entry, everyone has their own way of doing things and I'm not saying that mine is 'the one true way'! smiley - smiley

D'oh, I've just reread what I wrote and what I meant to say was that the plastic bag was inside the rucksack! So when there was torrential rain and rivers to cross there was something that just didn't get wet.
I didn't mean it to sound like he hiked around Vietnam with all his worldly possessions in a Tesco bag.

Or you can buy one of those rucksacks with a waterproof shroud you can unzip to pull over the bag...

Shroud... or if the worst happens they can wrap you in it before they bury you!
