A Conversation for The Tetragrammaton

The meaning of the name

Quill

It is a form of the Hebrew verb "to be" and can be translated as "he causes to become", i.e. God can become or cause to become whatever is necessary in the outworking of his purpose.

There is no confusion between Jesus and Jehovah in the New World Translation, every scripture is closely cross-referrenced in order to make sure the original meaning is preserved. For more information, speak to Jehovah's Witnesses next time they call.

I agree that the spelling the the name Jehovah is not Hebraic. Neither is the spelling of the name Jesus. The spelling and exact pronunciation of a name depends on the language. In England I am Kathryn, in France I am Katrin and in Wales I am Cadi. I haven't travelled any further than that, but it would be churlish of me to insist on a specific pronunciation, especially if it was alien to the language. (Try saying "Je m'appelle Kathryn" without losing the French accent - virtually impossible!)

Very interesting article - and good research

Outasync (aka Kathryn aka Katrin aka etc etc etc)

The use of the name Jehovah in the Greek Scriptures of the NWT is, to say the least, controversial. A good explanation is given in Appendix 1D.

Rolf Furuli goes into it in more depth.
