We Hereby Bequeath
We hereby bequeath to our descendants
A planet damaged by our own command
You have possession of the shattered remnants.
Hurricanes that chase bedraggled fragments
That once were houses over littered land
We hereby bequeath to our descendants.
When seas come surging into settlements
Submerging fields long tilled by human hand
You have possession of the shattered remnants.
Clouds of helpless, over burdened migrants
Who flee their villages engulfed in sand
We hereby bequeath to our descendants.
When deserts blaze through thirsty continents
And leave mere bones to mount a hopeless stand
You have possession of the shattered remnants.
The states that smash up lives with armaments
And cities swamped with drug-befuddled bands
We hereby bequeath to our descendants
You have possession of the shattered remnants.
