I hate to tell you this, but you've made a miniscule error in your discussion of Buckner's idiocy. It's a common story that his missed ball blew the lead for the Sox. However, they had already blown their lead! The Mets progressed into the bottom of the 10th down by two, and the pitcher retired the first two batters. Three straight singles scored the first run, and a wild pitch scored the tying run. Buckner's error let the WINNING run cross the plate, not the tying run. They had already blown their lead. Just thought I'd inform you.

I'm going to write an intensely definitive entry about the Mets, and this will be in it.
