"The closer you are to the fundamental wing of your religion, the worse it will be, but then, you probably deserve it"
It seems to be saying that if you are deeply religious you deserve all you get (in a bad way). Or am I reading it wrong?

I meant fundamentalist in the sense of deeply intolerant of other people's point of views and religions.
I would argue that you could be deeply religious and yet still understand that when marrying someone from a different religion they may be attached to that religion and the marriage rites it calls for? What gets my goat is when you hear of couples who meet, apparently have a loving relationship, and yet when it gets to wedding bells it's "we're doing it the way of my religion, no buts".
