A Conversation for The Ritual Decalogue versus the Ethical Decalogue

Actually, there are three mentions of "10 C's" in the OT, not two: at Exodus 34:28 and at Deuteronomy 4:13 and 10:4. The first is of course the RD. However, D4:13 is associated with the ED, though not as closely: the narrative continues with graven images (closer to the ED than the cast idols of the RD) and talking about the importance of keeping the C's for the rest of D4 before listing the ED at the beginning of D5. So yes, only the RD is explicitly labeled the 10 C's, but it's probably best to acknowledge all three mentions of the term.

Hi kwamikagami,
(Are you the Kwami who created the Wikipedia entry on this subject?)
Well spotted - looks like both Leo and I missed that. The verse you quote certainly needs to be added into the Entry. I suggest the following changes:
'The phrase 'Ten Commandments' appears just twice in the Bible, and on neither occasion'
becomes
'The phrase 'Ten Commandments' appears just three times in the Bible, and on none of those occasions'
Add in a new bullet between the existing 3rd and 4th:
* In Deut 4, the Ten Commandments are refered to as being written by God on tablets. Again, no reference is made to which Decalogue is being referred to, but some of the language is suggestive of the Ethical Decalogue. (footnote: Deut 4:13)
Replace:
'The phrase 'Ten Commandments' is used just twice in the entire Bible, and neither of those occasions is close to a list of the 'ordinary' Ten Commandments, the Ethical Decalogue.'
with:
'Of the three times the phrase 'Ten Commandments' is used in the Bible, one is close to the Ethical Decalogue and one is immediately after the Ritual Decalogue.'
There's a break in the narrative at the end of Deut 4, though I assume it's the same Doc Hypoth source (Priestly iirc) as Deut 5, so I'm torn over whether it's best to finish the new bullet point with 'This leads into:'
Any comments from anyone?

So I am to be a published author. What an honour
I have dropped them an email saying, essentially (1) I don't mind you quoting me, but please reference me, and (2) btw I do not own the copyright in this article - it was with the BBC, I don't know where it is now.

Authors do retain copyright on work in h2g2. You grant the BBC (as was) or Not Panicking Ltd (now) a perpetual non-exclusive right to publish, but it's still your copyright.

Thanks TRiG - I've found something linked to from the front page as well, which indicates that the fact that this is co-authored complicates the sitaution slightly.
But anyway, since I am not going to be taking these people to court, there's not much more that I can do.
