What's so cool on alu tanks?

Yes, they're lighter than steel ones. They're also bigger because more material has to be used to keep the same pressure as. This means you need to get stuffed with more ballast (which is not necessarily wrong, you get better balance).
I've used both steel and aluminium tanks and chosen 15l/230 bar steel one.

Lighter is very important when doing beach entries, especially when doing so from somewhat rocky beaches. Some of the hikes I've taken with my tanks on are ridiculous enough with aluminum on my back. I don't think it would be wise with steel. One misstep, and they're calling the rescue helicopter.
