Hyper Value Stores

2 Conversations

Hyper Value stores are common in Great Britain. They offer a bizarre variety of surprisingly cheap goods, including canned and jarred food, clothing, kitchenware, garden tools, and DIY tools - and much more besides.

The goods in general - in particular any kind of tool - are extremely cheap, but for a good reason. If you buy a washing up brush there it will lose its bristles within a week. A full set of screwdrivers will soon become a full set of screwdriver handles. However, if you choose carefully, you can find some real bargains. These are mainly branded goods bought in bulk. If you buy food there make sure you read the label; they often sell them off cheap at Hyper Value to get rid of them about a day before the 'best before' date. If you find food that you really like there, make sure you buy lots. They don't support particular lines for long. Quite often they buy spare batches of goods which no other shops want. And so when that batch is finished, they won't have any more.

Be extra careful when buying clothes. They really do come apart at the seams.

All these points are drawbacks, but remember that Hyper Value do sell things extremely cheaply. You can go in with a pound and come out with a couple of full shopping bags. It's often worth it.
